Well, it works due to an effect called electromagnetic induction. It's a lot easier than it sounds, we promise! When a magnet is moved through a coil of metal wire, an electric current is "induced". This was discovered by Michael Faraday in 1831. Your future scientist will learn this concept while they build this real life experiment that really works.
